Emergency Voice Communication System compliant with BS5839-9:2021 and EN IEC 62820 Regulations
The EVC System (Emergency Voice Communication System) by Spazio Calmo® ensures full compliance with the BS5839-9_2021 Regulation and EN IEC 62820 Regulation, providing reliable two-way communication for refuge areas, fire marshals, and fire brigades.
All devices are connected wirelessly using GSM technology. If one or more outstations need to be installed in areas where the GSM signal is weak or absent, the antenna can be remotely positioned up to 50 metres from the installation point, guaranteeing seamless performance and compliance with safety standards.
EVC System – BS5839-9_2021 Regulation
- Master Station: Managing the outstations efficiently through GSM connection.
- Outstation Type B: Designed for refuge areas, ensuring clear voice communication in protected zones.
- Outstation Type A: Intended for fire marshals, providing a direct link for emergency coordination.
EVC System – EN IEC 62820 Regulation
- SMU or URU (System Managing Unit or User Receiver Unit): Manages and monitors all communication lines.

With the introduction of Decrees DM 03/08/2015 and DM 18/10/2019, fire prevention in Italy has taken a significant step forward, finally closing the gap with European directives.
The new regulatory framework introduced a fundamental principle: safety must be inclusive.
This means that, from the very design stage, buildings must take into account the presence of people with motor, sensory, or cognitive impairments—including those that are temporary.
